Hello all, from sunny Western New York!  I had to make a last minute trip home this weekend.  I drove all night (can’t you just hear Celine Dion now?) from Boston on Wednesday night and got in around 5am on Thursday morning.   I haven’t been eating regular meals and hence have not taken any pictures, but I do remember!

I went to Orange Cat Coffee and had a delicious blended soy Chai tea on Thursday morning.  We did yardwork during the day then went to visit some family, and came back and made Red Pepper Risotto.  My mom and I sauteed 2 red peppers with some garlic and onion, and we added just picked cherry tomatoes until they cracked.  Then we added scallion. Meanwhile we made the risotto, and once that was cooked we put it all together and topped it with some fontanella cheese. MMMM boy was it ever good.  For dessert we split a fresh cantaloupe and put some froyo inside of it.  Again, so good.  While we were making the dinner we indulged in some yummy brie topped with Buckwheat Honey on crostini that we made.  WOWZA.

Right now we’re making grilled wasabi cheese sandwiches (they’re green!) and we are dipping it in tomato soup.  Grilled cheese and tomato is one of my favorite combos of all time.

Hopefully I’ll get to take some pictures of something out here eventually!

Yep, it’s 1:18am and i’m still at work!! That’s dedication i tell ya.  Today was a SUCK FEST!  Ugh, I can’t even get into it now.  The Hubs tells me that i should write a book about all the crazy goings-on at the hotel.  One day….one day…

Let me just recap quickly my day.  I didn’t even get to take any pictures because I ate my dinner like this:

walk into cafeteria.

grab a roll from the buffet.

eat roll while walking through cafeteria.

leave cafeteria on other side.

go back to work.

Yikes! At least I had a stellar workout at the gym.  I did:

chest press;  30 lbs, 15 reps, 3 sets (4olbs on the last set)

lat pulldown: 65 lbs, 15 reps, 2 sets

back extension; 20 reps, 2 sets

rear delts; 30 lbs, 20 reps, 2 sets

bicep curl; 20lbs, 20 reps, 2 sets

tricep extension; 25lbs, 20 reps, 2 sets

v-bar pushdown; 20lbs, 10 reps, 2 sets

Typical ab routine (50 crunches, 50 reverse crunches, 50 bicycle crunches, 50 combo crunches; 45 second plank, 2 side planks held for 20 beats).

Then I did 15 minutes on the treadmill and 15 minutes on the elliptical.

Then I walked into the shit-show at work!! Wahoo! And I’m still here! At least i’ll have stories for the grandkids :).

Good Morning!!! Today I woke up and made a Green Monster (as per usual).  For some reason, I made WAY more than normal today.  It filled almost 3 full glasses! I drank the big one, and put the 2 small ones in my Nalgene for me to drink at work.


My mix today included:

1 frozen nanner

2 cups of spinach

3 cups of watermelon (that must be where the volume came from)

1/2 cup of vanilla soy milk

1 squirt of agave nectar

1/2 serving of tofu

It was good, but more watery than I’m used to.  I prefer the creamier texture, like yesterday’s.

I’m off to the gym now to work on my upper body, and get some good time on the elliptical.   It’s so hot and muggy outside! I guess summer has finally arrived in Boston!  Then, its the fabulous and wonderful PM shift!

Today was an exercise in Nina taking the high road when it comes to stress.  I am notorious for having stress issues.  I internalize everything negative around me and I end up thinking that everything is my fault.  When I get bad news, I have no outlet for my stress and my emotions because all I want to do is veg out on the couch and watch tv, or take a nap.

Today was not a good day.  Well, it started out good, but after lunch the whole day kind of pooped the bed.  It just went from bad to worse.  I tried to think about how awesome my August would be, and I tried to think about my vacation, but the ‘bad’ just wouldn’t get out of my bed.  I even went so far as to come all the way home and make excuses to get out of the gym.  I felt like crap, but the whole time I was walking from work to the T, I was thinking that working out my frustrations would feel good, even if initially all I wanted to do was give up.

I succeeded in negativ-izing myself all the way home.  As soon as I walked in the door, I regret my (stupid) decision to skip the gym today.  My reasons are as follows:

1.  I don’t have that much longer before my wedding dress shoot and Cozumel.  I have to maximize my time so I look and feel my best.

2.  Working out really does make me feel better, so if I wanted to get out of the funk, I should stick to my guns and do it.

3.  I have this fun blog now where I publish all my stats.  My first few days of skipped workouts don’t make me look very credible. 😉

So obviously, I put on my workout clothes and headed out the door!  Look at the beautiful view I had while running:

While enjoying the lovely views and breathing in the fresh sea air, I knocked out a sweaty 2 miles.  (i feel a bit sheepish writing that when other bloggers are like “i ran an easy 2343245 miles this morning, but hey, you gotta start somewhere!)

I’m pretty sweaty!! (nice hair, nins!)


Now The Hubs and I are going to cook dinner and then I’m really going to veg out.  It’s been a long day!

I made a naan-wich out of my leftover naan, and my leftover indian veggies from the other night.  Then for dessert I had:


Fage 2% with raspberries and blackberries.  It doesn’t photograph well, but trust me, it was DELISH.

Midday Slump

My Green Monster from this morning is still holding me over! It’s amazing, I’m not hungry at all, but I will probably force myself to eat something by 2pm, since I want to get to the gym by 5:30pm.

I’m having a bit of a slump over here.  It’s super muggy out, and I just got back from running an errand (in heels!) for a guest.   My dogs are barkin!  I have been having a rough couple of weeks at work.  I just feel like I lost my mojo or something.  Do you ever feel this way? Like you can’t get in the groove?  I hate to toot my own horn, but I’m really good at my job.  Lately I have been feeling like the decisions I make are not the right ones, and I can’t get out of it.   I am trying to look on the bright side though, and get excited for things to come in August.

I have a busy month!

August 2 we are having a going away party for one of my colleagues that is leaving since her Visa is up.  The whole front office is going out together, which is a rarity, and we are going to KARAOKE!! I’m so excited, it’s going to be a blasty.

August 7 I am having my “rock the dress” shots taken in full wedding regalia.  I’m stoked for this since I get to have my hair and makeup done again, and I get to frolic through the streets of Boston with The Hubs.  I didn’t plan my wedding day to allow for enough time to get some great outdoor shots of he and I just being together (plus, it rained the entire day).  So we’re taking the opportunity with nice weather to have some shots taken.  I think I’m more excited than he is, but we have one of the premier Boston photographers taking our shots, so I’m anxious to see how they come out.

August 14-15: Healthy Living Summit!! I’m so excited I can’t wait.  I still need to find a cocktail dress though!   It’s going to be so much fun meeting all the ladies behind my favorite blogs, and hopefully make a few new friends!

August 22-30:  COZUMEL!! A 2nd honeymoon for us.  Well, I’m calling it that at least.  I feel like every vacation The Hubs and I go on that is just the two of us will always be our “2nd honeymoon” (or 3rd, or 4th, etc). At least I hope so.   This will be a much needed break from that past few months that have been dragging me down.

So, now I feel much better after that!!   Hopefully I get hungry soon and then I can put up a lunchtime post!

Workout Gear

Mornin!  I woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed today.  After I showered, got ready, took care of the kitties, I made myself an extra special green monster.

My mix today included:

3 cups of spinach

1 cup of vanilla soy milk

1 frozen banana

1 cup of watermelon

1 squirt of agave nectar

1/2 serving of tofu

MMMM it was so creamy, but so refreshing at the same time.  This blender’s worth made about 20 ounces, which I put into my nalgene to enjoy on the way to work.   Then I packed my lunch, and my gym bag.

Haha! I’m a bag lady!!! Look at what I carry to work every day.  Wow.  It takes up almost the length of my entire kitchen table.  While I was packing my gym bag this morning (the pink flowered bag), I realized that both of my favorite sports bras were dirty.  I have been blessed with large um, ladies.  It does not make working out comfortable at all.  I have spent the better part of my life looking for the perfect sports bra.  I finally stumbed on Enell, and I just cannot say enough about them.  I have no movement at all, even when I do jumping jacks!!! They are definitely on the expensive side, but they are soooooooo worth it.  I need to invest in some more so that I don’t have to do laundry all.the.time to have enough sports bras.

My other favorite workout clothes include my City Sports T-shirts and my 3/4 lenght Asics leggings.  LOVE!  I also have a favorite pair of socks, but I can’t remember the name right now.  Haha, who has favorite socks?  Its actually not one pair, but a particular brand.  They are so soft and thin, and are made of the wicking material.

Do they have such a thing?  I would love it.  I could eat fruit all the live-long day.  Around 5pm at work, my stomach started to eat itself.  I was famished!  I had to break into my snack earlier than planned.

My yummy leftovers from last night, the most delicious pretend mac and cheese in history, and a clementine.  I only ate about 1/3 of the mac and cheese, all of my leftovers, and the cute little baby orange.

Now I’m stuffed to the rafters.  And trying to get my work done while blogging at the same time.  Gotta finish this up so that I can get home and get to sleep before I have to be back here at 8am tomorrow!! Peace out peeps!
